The 3 inch Big Hammer shad is the "catch anything" softbait. It is the shad of choice when fishing small bodies of water, shallow areas, or simply covering water and searching for fish. Whether you are targeting smaller fish or trying to match small prey that larger fish are feeding on - from a zander to a seabass, this bait will catch, and has caught them all. On a 7g jig head it is a perfect shallow water lure that is great for covering a lot of water and subtle depth changes at the same time with one bait. In addition to freshwater, it is an excellent bait for inshore saltwater fishing on both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.

Jig Head rig: There are three sizes of Hammer Heads that were designed to fit the 3 inch Big Hammer shad. The most common jig head used with the 3" Hammer is the Hammer Head™ 1/4 oz. with a 2/0L (light wire) hook or the 1/4 oz. 2/0 (regular wire) hook. The 3/16 oz. - 2/0L Hammer Head is the next best thing when a lighter head is desired while the 3/8 oz. 2/0 works great if a little more weight is needed.
